The display is large and expresses 256k colors at a resolution of 240x320pixels. Above it we can spot the earpiece and the secondary video camera. Beneath the 2” display basic controls are placed but in a redefined style, that is just slightly different from the SE traditions. What it is notable especially in the navigation process is the absence of the return key, but instead of this the addition of the third soft key is present among the other two, which are placed on the extreme edges. We must recognize that this solution will leave for some even very experienced SE users, some questions first. But in the learning curve is very short as the new contextual key was designed to make the user interface more flexible and easy to use. The keypad is made in the same spirit as the whole body. Their metallic material, the even backlight and a good delimitation of the keys are assuring a nice use in any time of the day, whether it comes to dialing or SMS texting.

Navigation II

The side borders are filled with useful connectivity options and shortcut keys. So, on the right side we have the volume rocker and the dedicated camera key. On the opposite border the Fast Port and the Walkman key is situated. The On/Off button is on the top. The menu was adapted to be operated with all three soft keys. The menu can be optimized with Flash based themes. Although due to the fact that the positioning sensor is missing you don’t have the same animation feedback corresponding to the handset’s position. But the SensMe feature was conserved. This option sorts all the tracks that are transferred from your PC via the Media Manager, and then present them to you in a very interactive way, so that you could easily select a group of tracks that are matching your current mood.

Media - Walkman 3.0

Along with other multimedia features, the Walkman 3.0 is the one above all. It supports a lot of media formats, the ability to create playlist, sort songs by artist, title or by tempo with the SensMe tool. You also have the possibility to control a 5 band equalizer and find a preset that fits you best. But many will be pleased with just the fact of knowing that the player offers the Mega Bass preset. The other way to listen the music is to check the FM Radio, which offers 20 empty entries to be saved to the memory. The media album to which you can store all the media is organized as usual but the Camera Album is structured to look more as on any regular Digital Photo Camera. Therefore one of the view modes available from the menu is to visualize photos by the day they were taken.

Camera

The 3.2MP camera, which is placed on the rear cover, produces good results especially during the day-time. Photos and video clips can be saved to the internal memory, but at only 26MB of in-build storage you would like to choose to use the 2GB M2 card, which comes with a standard package. Unfortunately the Hot-Swap function is missing, because the memory card slot is placed beneath the battery cover. To open it turned to be a little bit unhandy as you need to drag to minute switchers placed on the right and left border of the phone. But thanks to multiple connectivity options like the traditional Bluetooth, USB port, and especially the 3G option, you might not have any reason to check the battery compartment very often. In fact this enables you to surf the web at a high speed and use this advantage to make Video-calls or listen to streaming media, like video or audio clips.
