Nokia 6120 Classic Review

GSMPress

Nokia 6120 Classic is one of the most appreciated and successfully designed phone that we’ve came across lately. First of all let’s talk about how much this phone measures. At only 105 x 46 x 15 mm and 89 grams of weight it is quite unusual to hold it and to acknowledge the diversity of functions that it embraces. The phone is available with two color-schemes: black and pearl white, both with a glossy finish. The main material used is plastic both for back and front covers. A silver frame has the role to add a classic yet beautiful touch to the whole design.

Design

The entire surface of Nokia 6120 is smooth, even the keyboard doesn’t make its way out of the display surface and don’t get noticed because they don’t have any forms that would receive any attention, only the common separation lines make the difference between them. That is why the phone disserves the right to be qualified as a very slim smartphone.  The display is framed with a similar material used for the entire body and therefore no zone delimitations can be spotted. This design note resulted in a stylish effect. The total amount of colors displayed is 26 million, which are concentrated in 240x320 pixels. Above the TFT millionaire, a CIF+ video camera is placed. This one proves to be a very handy addition especially when 3G is on board, as it allows video calling. You may not be aware of other features of this phone which are carefully integrated in side borders. So that as a result of our exploration of the right side, we noticed the volume rocker and the dedicated camera key. On the left border the microSD slot can be accessed by removing the protective cap. A little bit above it, the loudspeaker is situated. The on/off button is on the top border. At the opposite end of the handset three plug-ins are identified to be destined for: a mini-USB cable, handset connection (a 2.5 mm jack) and a port used for the charging process. The rear part of the mobile phone houses a 2MP camera and a Flash Led.

Menu

Nokia 6120 is based on the third edition of the popular 60 Series and shares the 9.2 version of the Symbian OS. So that the interface and navigation is much the same as in the N76 model.  The menu has four view modes: the grid one, the list mode, a list of icons displayed in a circle and an animated mode. Some applications are exited automatically by pressing the exit key, but some of them may be running in the back. As for example is the music player, which will still continue to display the title of the song in the upper part of the stand-by menu. The last one is a very useful feature as it displays a list of the most frequently used applications and the list of to-do or tasks that are awaiting for some actions of yours to be taken. Messaging is on the good side. Nokia 6120 delivers all modern solutions regarding this compartment, which includes: SMS, MMS and an E-Mail Client.

Camera&Connectivity

1

The 2MP camera is not extraordinary but it still offers reliability and quality. The Flash Led is there to cover the lack of light. Other adjustments to the image can be applied from the camera menu. You can set some effects for them too. Video clips can be recorded in a maximum resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The music player supports the generally used format files and above all Nokia 6120 has the FM radio on board.  The internal memory is only 35MB large and it won’t suit anybody, especially those who want to get the maximum of their mobile phone. A good addition is the application which allows to view office documents, which include the PDF format. To use these documents as attachments to e-mails, the handset is equipped with a good data transfer range of options. Along with this utility, internet is granted to be a satisfaction thanks to: GPRS, EDGE, HSCSD and 3G. This means that video and audio streaming are also available. The overall conclusion is that Nokia 6120 Classic is a quite giant. It proves to be a well-performing handset at an elegant and extremely small sizes comparable to other smartphones.
