Nokia shipped 116 million handsets worldwide in Q1 2008, up a healthy 27% annually. While emerging markets continue to deliver strong volumes in the feature-phone and basic-terminal categories, Nokia’s performance in higher-ASP, rich-media, converged devices was lackluster. On a regional basis, North America was a huge disappointment, with total shipments plunging by half in just one quarter. Converged devices and North America are two cracks showing through in Nokia’s formidable armor.
